How does a phone app know what TWA etc. is without connection to wind gages?

I searched in the App store on my iphone for iSailor. Would that be the Wartsila iSailor? It's the only one i found with a similar name.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Are you able to share a track of your next sail? That would show the true result regarding tacking angle, taking into account the TWA, leeway, etc....

Is it just me, or did the line handling, or rather the huge pile of ropes laying on the deck at the helm seem sloppy? I would not leave that much line lying around even in much less challenging...

I started this thread to discuss sharing of information about St. Martin/Sint Maarten and nearby islands. We are going to be down there in late May, early June for 8 days on the boat and a few more...

No, I chickened out due to the numerous posts regarding problems. I ended up going through Ed Hamilton brokers to charter with Moorings.

My advice is to get that small boat and learn to sail it well. Then gradually learn to charter larger boats on bareboat charters. I have been on enough charters, some as long as 3 weeks, to realize...
