Re: Lightening Strikes

Being in the "Cone of protection" helps protect people from a strike , but it doesn't help electronics . I've had electronics blow out from a lightning strike on the water that was 100 yards away. ...

Re: Crumbling copper pipe

Re: Let's Talk Seacock

No. It wasn't being forced in the wrong direction. It was situated such that it could only be turned one way anyway, there was a wall in place if you tried to turn it the other way. Either way...

Re: Catalina engine rattle

This right here ^^ :thumb: Very common on these boats/engines. You can check to see if possibly the "idle rpm" speed is maybe too low, lots of times the tach at the helm is off. But I replaced...

Re: Throuh hull valve type

I think there are more than a few 'North American builders' that are ABYC compliant -->. (Also Trudesign is ABYC complaint through the use of 'collars' instead of flanges - does the same thing)

Re: Seacock and through hull plastic/ steal / other

Cyrus The "93 Series" is the robust one. The 850/849 series are the ones I would personally stay away from, not that it will split in half and let water in but in the past the handles were not as...

Re: Seacock and through hull plastic/ steal / other

Really I'd love to know "what insurers" say that you cannot have Marelon if the ABYC & ISO certified like Forespar and Tru Design Marelon Thru Hull/Seacocks .

You can't say "plastic" that doesn't...

Re: The cult of the Proper Flanged Thru-hull

Ummmm I think there are a lot of North American Sailboats that are still bonded - Sabre, Hinckley, Tartan. (None of those boats have issues with their metal thru hulls) Plus a lot of Manufacturer's...

Yeah sure I...
