Singing topping lift

This is my 3rd keelboat but I have a unique issue. The topping lift sings like crazy in just about any amount of wind. It is a synthetic topping lift rather than wire. Could that have something to do...

Re: Macerator runs but doesn’t empty tank

I’ll check the vent. Impeller is new today. Without hoses, I can put hand over intake and feel a slight suction. Was going to use a bucket of water but hoses are buggers to get off and bend.

Re: Macerator runs but doesn’t empty tank

It’s the standard jabsco. No duck valves. The y valve is set properly and thru hull is open. I’m thinking that while pump runs, perhaps it’s not running fast enough. I’m not experienced with them.

Macerator runs but doesn’t empty tank

I bought a 37 foot hunter last fall. The macerator would turn on and immediately shut off. I did that repeatedly, and came to the conclusion that it had the wrong size circuit breaker. I replaced it...

Re: St60 depth fried

Good suggestions. Not sure I agree with the 5+5=10 amp fuse comment. I think if there was over 5 on either circuit then that fuse, or both, would blow. However, I don’t think the way it is set up now...

Re: St60 depth fried

This process has been enlightening. There was no fuse in the circuit. Now I have a five amp fuse which is what Ray Marine recommends. However, there are two instrument switches on my electrical panel...

Re: St60 depth fried

The actual transponder should be OK - I hope - but I can't see how the gauge is. I took apart and one of the metal pin connectors on the board is completely melted and the board and circuitry in that...

St60 depth fried

All my gauges are Raymarine ST 60 vintage. On Saturday, we smelled and saw smoke. I quickly isolated to an instrument and shut down the power to them. When we docked, about 30 minutes later, we...

Firing/Northstar combo

I have a 12-year-old Furuno display but no dome. I have the chance to get an 18 inch Norstar dome. Do you think these will work together and what will the issues be. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Can't start engine

What luck. I took the advice and started to check connections from the battery to engine. When I checked the main starter barely switch I found that it was not completely tight. Too tight to notice...

ST60 Speedo

I have ST 60 instruments. Older boat but only second year with me. C&C Frigate 36. Last year the knotmeter worked. This year it doesn't. All other masthead and depth do work. I removed paddles and...

Re: Rudder stuffing box

Well I finally finished the rudder and installed on July 7. Rudder was faired nicely, 4 coats of barrier paint and 2 anti fouling. I noted that the new rudder came in at 53 lbs while the old one was...

Can't start engine

I installed new marine batteries last year and the starting battery worked fine. Engine (yanmar GM30) started fit up each time. This year it won't start with just starting battery. I have to switch...

Re: Rudder stuffing box

Want to point out the original aluminum/bronze combo lasted over 40 years. Then replaced fitting and corrodes in 1 year. Hard to figure. I'm leaning toward replacing rudder with s.s. Shaft and fg.

I was ready to go in the water a week ago. Last thing was to put steering wheel on my C&C Frigate 36. Did that but wouldn't turn! turns out the bronze stuffing box (Edson) and the aluminum rudder...
