Re: Passagemaking question???
Cape Horn trawlers also make great long range yachts. Very safe and with good fuel polishing systems. They are no longer made but there are a few on the market. Google is your friend. |

Re: Opinions: Selene vs Kadey Krogen
Ok, JayCall has bumped the size up to 58 ft. I'll bump it up to 60 to get really good range. Look at this one. Review: Sea Spirit 60' Passagemaker - YachtForums.Com... |

Re: Opinions: Selene vs Kadey Krogen
I agree you can't go wrong with either one. My vote would be for the Krogen, I prefer the layout and the hull shape. Nordhavn doesn't get my vote due to the dry stack. |

Re: Opinions: Selene vs Kadey Krogen
Those are good numbers, the Krogen will do 4700 miles at 6 knots leaving a 10% reserve. This drops to 3000 miles at 7 knots or 1400 miles at 9 knots. |

Re: Opinions: Selene vs Kadey Krogen
Below the waterline the Krogens are solid glass. They have a far greater range than a Selene, I love the new 48AE. |

Re: A Conclusion
72! That is discouraging, in fact that's cruel. I can see a lot of people not even get to retirement age, let alone go sailing when they do get there. |

Re: Contest Sailboats
I prefer the older models over the new ones, well build classic sea boats. Not that the new ones are no good, they just don't have that classic look. |

Re: Best Upwind, Blue Water Cat?
I hate to say this but I think a quality catamaran that will meet and satisfy your needs will be out of reach. Maybe a good proven mono will be a better option than a compromised catamaran. The... |

Re: Best Upwind, Blue Water Cat?
Agree, but those are not the Catana's they will be looking at. Within their budget they will have to look at the smaller models. Antares will be out of reach as well. |

Re: Best Upwind, Blue Water Cat?
Catana's are fast but have very little load carrying capacity. Wanting to circumnavigate you will have/need a lot of kit on board. Overload the boat and your Catana will sail like a dog. I would look... |

Re: Another 'Would You . . . ' Question
I would also go for it, as said above you don't know what the future holds. If it doesn't work out you have at least tried it. |

Re: John Batchelor: Canadian Sailor Missing In Bahamas
A starving dog seems to indicate he has not been on board for quite a number of days. |
