I am new to the site. I just read a comment you made (Jan 17, 2010) about there being lots of directions of how to build a home made hooka surface air system. I must be searching the wrong words. Do you happen to have any links or recall what you 'Googled'? Did you get around to building one yourself? I'll continue 'Googlin'. ;o)

I am looking to find or build a 12v system. I have an 8' x 16' dock/raft with a trolling motor and two very large deep cycle batteries, so that would be an ample power source. I mainly use it for cruising around our bay at happy hour with the neighbors.

OEM units I have found so far:
Sea Breathe (130-D) one man is pricey at$1400. (12 amp draw)
The Hookamax (E2005C-12v) is $750 but draws 45 AMPS!
(I have #8 wire from dual 12v batteries to run the 12v, 30 amp trolling motor. a 45 amp draw might need to change to #6 wire. Not THAT big a deal.)

I am thinking about buying '79 Allied Princess. While I've done some sailing in the Pacific, this is the first boat I've considered buying. How do you like yours? Anything to look out for? This one is 36ft and cutter rigged.

The previous owner placed a plastic fuel tank under the cockpit. I would rather have the tank lower in the boat. The reason for the question is, the Westerbeke engine has few replacement parts available.

Have you repowered your Princess? If so, was it a complicated installation?
