Hi Christiane. Not as yet. I interested how people deal with finding crew, not an easy task. We were sailing our yacht from South Africa to the Caribbean in 2000 and had two friends sailing with us, unfortunately one was seasick the full 19 days to reach St Helena. We waited 4 months for the supply ship to take them back to S Africa, during which time we came across so many crew that found that they had to get off the yacht they were sailing on and were looking for a passage onwards on another yacht passing through. Not an easy task as there are not too many yacht per year passing there. (the only way to get to or leave the island.)
I found it so hard finding a right crew to help us sail on and some very uncomfortable situations. Some even begging and crying to join us, offering all their possessions even a saxophone. In the end we bit the bullet and sail the rest of the 5000 miles alone. It turned out to be the right decision.
Cruising is a great lifestyle and even more so for kids
