I sailed my Hobie18 there. Not an easy place to sail because it's a finger lake. Lot's of tacking most of the time. Weekdays are better than weekends because of boat traffic.

I put in at the dam ramp and the Duncan bridge marina.

Winds are always shifting where the fingers intersect or meet and the high land around the lake has an affect, too.

    What sailboat do you have?

Happy to answer any questions I can.

hey buddy.. i am a beginner sailor in the birmingham, al area. I was googling sailing on smith lake and found a link to a forum you posted in looks like about 5 years ago about how you used to sail in smith lake. I was wondering if i could pick your brain regarding sailing in smith lake. I can not find a lot of information about it so when i found your post that said you sailed there, I was determined to try to get in contact with you. If you dont mind message me back on here or email me at ericgober at yahoo . com. Thanks buddy!
