We actually bought a pacific seacraft 34 foot sailboat, removed the 30hp engine from it and installed a 12kW 48V brushless motor drive. No generator, there really isn't much room for one. I like your plan though!

Are you still thinking about a diesel/solar electric trawler. I am building one using a Navy surplus 50' utility boat. I have removed the Detroit 671 and am installing a 60 hp 900 rpm 3 phase 208 motor direct drive. I am also installing a diesel gen and a VFD to control the motor.
