    Hi Margo

Yes, its called sea kayaking here too now but back in the 70s and 80s, we when sea canoeing in kayaks or canoes. I think it was just the romantics that have changed the name to the Eskimo name for a canoe.
I sailed dingys before I when sea canoeing and only come back to sailing with my wife since 2003, but I have found if you can paddle 20nm in a day its a lot easier to sail 30nm.
Anyway enjoy your paddling and your sailing.

    All the best

    Hi Bruce,

Yes! of course out here we call it sea kayaking! LOL.

I did most of my paddling along the So. Calif. coast, w. coast of Baja, and the sea of cortez (that's where I am in the photo). Though I did a few others: florida keys, everglades, Colorado river, San Juan islands. I don't think I've been anywhere quite as threatening as the coasts of Scotland! My hat's off to you!
I just started my cruising in Dec.'09, so I'm very new to it.

    Hi Flysci

I see you are in to sea canoeing, I used to sea canoe on the west coast of Scotland back in the late 70s early 80s in the days before hand held VHF and mobile phones. When I think back we were totally on our own but I loved it, I logged up 5000nm over five years. My wife and I have been cruising the south coast of Cornwall and Devon over the last four years.

    All the best

    Bruce
