I added my own section at the bow without drilling any new holes and to increase the boats rigidity. I formed this piece of wood by hand after cutting it to shape with a jig saw. I stained it with a Jacobean stain I bought at Lowe’s and also used teak oil on it as a sort of water proofing addition.
