Picture 10 of 20 from Album First Coastal Passage
Steven dressed with his morning coffee. I had gone below to make some brew at his request and turned on the coffee grinder. Steven about came out of his skin saying "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT NOISE???" Told him that when I rewired the boat, Stan had wired in an inverter so I could run the computer and the grinder. He was stunned. He cried out: "Where is the instant???" "There is no instant on board Steven." Clearly, he felt some deep sailing ethos had been violated. However, upon tasting my "gourmet brew" (as he forever after that referred to my coffee), he was a convert to the taste of Aged Sumatra on a very cold ocean morning.
