I think it would be great for long term cruising. Some would balk at the big cockpit, but frankly I wouldn't worry , or just put in a couple big drains. I spent 1.5 years in the Sea of Cortez in the 80's on my 30 footer. It was a wonderful time I'll never forget. Consider reading Steinbeck's "Log of the Sea of Cortez".

Hi Cheechako you'd posted a single line about the Ericson independence. I am considering it for living aboard in Baja's Sea of Cortez for a few months. Anything you could share about the boat's characteristics, good or bad, and whether you think it might be a good fit for long-term cruising would be great. Thanks! David
