    Howard,

I've never anchored there. Usually I will get a slip between the bridges at Brielle yacht club or the Brielle Basin. ...I have read that some have anchored in the area to the right...but with your 5 foot draft you could bump bottom at low tide.

The current runs strong in the river proper. There's also an area off to the left, behind Gull island....check out google earth! you might find more depth there.
I've heard of folks anchoring there. Sorry, I can't give you more definitive information. I usually take a slip.

If you are staying in the ICW and transiting barnegat bay...you will find much better anchorages once you get through the point pleasant canal...there's a nice area on the other side of the canal...behind the Bayhead yacht club!

    Hope this helps...

Been reading forum regarding ICWerything . You mention that Manassquan is good for staying overnight. Where would be the best place to anchor as everything else i read, discouraged Manasquan. Am sailing 31 ft Cape Dory with 5' draft. Appreciate some input.
    Thanks, Howard (hrsail@comcast.net)
