Ahoy capcook. I would arrive in Norway late April as now a days Norway usually have the bet weather early in the year, if you start in Oslo i would sail down to Tønsberg (vest side of the oslofjord) following the coast towards Risør, Kristiansand an up to Bergen. Around Bergen you find those amasing fjords Norway is known for. Now i havent been sailing up that way myself yet since im fairly fresh in the game myself. If i where you I would use google earth and plan my route there before buying all those charts. Norway is great in the summer but towards the fall we usually have some fearce weather. But yes, september would be a good time to start sailing south again. Calm seas my friend, and let me know if you guys sail this way one day. :-)

Hi and Greetings from Atlanta, Ga. USA... My wife and I (along with our 2 Children) are very new to sailing, but we may be given an opportunity next summer that we can not turn down... the ability to sail for a year... I very much want to visit and sail Norway / Sweden... How early is it safe to arrive in that area for sailing, May ? When do you need to be headed South, September ? if you had only a summer where would you go if you started in Oslo?

Thanks for your thoughts on this

    Gary Cook
