Not in the UK - £211!

I've been a lurker here for a while,
and finally registered so I could share by Weber experience.
I wanted to tell you that the Weber Q series grilles are great.

LP bottles are two types.
The Q series uses a one pound camping size LP bottle.
If you want to use a 20# bottle, you need a $25 adapter.

Cover
Weber covers are around $25 and are of good quality.
Or sew your own from some leftover Sunbrella.

Save on Shelves?
The left/right folding shelves on the 1200/2200 models are nice.
The 1000/2000 has no side shelves and are $30 less expensive.

Durability
My previous "stainless" grill was a rusty mess.
The Weber Q series is mostly marine quality.
except the igniter parts.

True Cost
My larger size Q2200 total cost was $300. It is not mounted.
$220 + $25 cover + $25 LP adapter hose + $30 propane bottle.

Very Happy
I've had it for two years. No complaints.
Heats fast, Cooks evenly, Quality construction.
Expensive, but will last a long time.

We couldn't get an adapter kit to convert the LP supply to a large bottle here in Greece. However it was easy enough to fix a local 10kg bottle to the Q1200 using the standard Greek regulator and it uses so little gas that we still haven't had to change it 5 months later.

We've been using the Q regularly since we bought it in June and love it. We invested in some extras (the pizza stone, trivet and griddle plate) and these have made it much more versatile than just a bbq/grill. So far we've grilled meat and veg, baked bread, pizzas and cakes and made casseroles and roasts. Great piece of kit, despite the initial expense ☺

Thanks for the inspiration. Although my boat has no oven,
I see that I just need to learn to use my grille like you do.
Usually it is pizza that I miss the most. J.

Pizza is wonderful on the Q. I managed to pull it off before we had a pizza stone by using a makeshift trivet and foil but the results are excellent with the stone. Highly recommended.

Loving this grill! Half the price of a crappy Force 10 or Dickerson and the best part is there is no stainless to polish!

I'm a Weber fanboy. I have a Weber kettle, Smokey Mountain and a Genesis. Looks like my new boat will be sporting a Q1200!

Love the Weber Q. Mounting on the davits was done by making a small aluminium table ,SS straps to bulwark ,outside. Appropriate slots in Al plate to take hose clamp the 4 legs. Tank in the dingy Still good after years. Have 2 more at home now . Centre cockpit so seating on davits made a social area for 5 or more. Was commercial party time vessel for 18.

Re: Weber Q1200 Grill on a boat

Photographs look interesting. We have decided to go with a Weber and want to mount on the rail as shown with the Magma kit.

What is to stop the BBQ from moving up and down around the rail? I can't see a strut of any sort?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

No strut is needed as the mount clams on tight x 2.

Re: Weber Q1200 Grill on a boat

We replaced a working Magma grill with the Q1000 and love it. Added a quick connect coupler to easily connect to our large propane tank on our boat. These grills actually produce grill marks on the meat. Would never go back to a magma grill on the boat.

Re: Weber Q1200 Grill on a boat

Thanks to this thread we went out yesterday and bought the Q1200.

It's a gesture of hope since:
there's ice on the dock
and it's 24F
and the wind chill is 16F
and both diesel stove are roaring full out.

Summer will come....

Re: Weber Q1200 Grill on a boat

Regardless of the make, sooner or later you will appreciate a gas welders wire file tip cleaner. My weber's funny angled legs are secured with SS clamps thru slots in an Al panel bolted to bent SS straps from davit pipe and down to bulwark, Shaped like 7. Wire hook on spring secures the lid shut when really heeled and gusty . Note ,the cast iron plate doesn't float.(( knew Ian ,back when he had an office at the old McKay/ Cormack yard in Vic, I ran the ways))
