Anyone willing to post pics of rig and tackle boxes, with approximate region they fish?

We caught mahi mahi east off the Exumas with a rod, reel and a yellow & red spoon lure. Three big fish in 30min

One of my favorites is squid skirts, separate lead weights that will fit in the head of the squid skirt and a separate hook which is 1/10 the price of buying it assembled and I'll put two or three on a line to look like a school and I troll this and when I ran a fishing boat we always had a popper which is just an object that makes a lot of splashes that is like 10 feet behind the boat. East Coast USA

We troll a lot, and are quite successful at it.

We use a lot of different lures, but the one that has caught fully half our fish is the lowly cedar plug. Just a torpedo shaped piece of wood with a lead head. Unpainted.

It has a good action at typical sailboat trolling speeds, and gives fish a good outline that looks like food.

Dolphin, Skipjack tuna, bigeye tuna, yellowfin tuna, albacore, yellowtail...

In addition to what gets posted, the book referenced in that thread has loads of detailed illustrations and descriptions.

Dont have any pics handy of my rigs, but I do of my homemade lures. I use a 1/2" PVC cap and a skirt...quick, easy, inexpensive, and effective!

Ive made some similar ones from shredded potato chip bags too. The inside of the bag is metallic reflective and the outside is colorfully printed, making a very good skirt material.

Tooth paste tube caps make a head for small lures.

Ends of frayed line can be used similar to a skirt too.

the tease I am referring to is the fish I'm a wee bit north of you these days (i miss the Spanish mackerel from back in the day. )

Caught our fist big fish on our fist boat, on our fist big trip. 50lb yellowfin ahi tuna, caught with a plain ol blue and glow in the dark white squid skirt, no head at all just the skirt and hook splashing around. Had a light tackle setup with a small penn 3/0 locked down the drag after he spooled it and hand lined em in. Great fun and had a huge tail sticking out of he galley ice box the rest of the trip cheers

Yes, we like Spanish Mac a lot too. Very common catch in Belize. Have to be careful here in the fish markets in Panama though...with two oceans so close together, you can get either Atlantic or Pacific (&#128541 Mac.

i was stationed out of Sandog for a few years . Caught email right off the ship .
