I had a problem with four burner force 10
stove starter not working...
I believed the problem to be
corrosion; not getting the
battery power it needed.
I used a multi-meter and checked the
battery. 1.6V!
Next I installed the battery and removed the two wires on the outside of the housing going to the stove--- I was only getting
half the voltage.
I ended up using sandpaper and a small screwdriver to clean everything in the cap, the spring and the end button that attached to the spring for the negative. I also cleaned inside the housing so the spring made good contact when inserted.
I was getting better voltage but still not perfect. I began testing the battery in the end cap and noted that I wasn't getting good voltage on the spring. Deduced it down to the metal end button in the end cap. I took a small piece of tinfoil and pushed it down with the battery and bingo!
Starter works every time. The spring and button in the end cap is designed pretty poorly.
Hope this helps...
