Re: How can a singlehander become good crew?

We both own the boat. We have the same lifetime experiences of sailing. Childhood cruising on sailboats with our families. Preteen and teen years dinghy racing and windsurfing. They became a professional athlete and big wave surfer and I became a harbor master assistant and a canvas worker.
Both of us, prior to ever meeting each other, in our 30s and 40s singlehanded our own racer/cruisers boats that we each solely owned and we each owned several (not several at a time though!)down the California coast, Mexico and sf bay. We both have crewed races on other people's boats, both long distance and beer can, both been crew for deliveries and we both have a handful of asa and uscg certs under our belts.
In short, our only difference is our size and style. They are a giant and I am puny. They are intense and I am more laid back. I hope we can get in sync. The boat is fantastic and we have had fun being crew on each other's boats in the past now and again over the last decade.

I am like Gilligan. They are like the Skipper, not the professor or Maryann.
