Return to Key west

Hello cruisers, I am looking for advice on a return route from the USVI to key west. I am currently in Antigua sailing a Catalina 350. I will start my return in March or April of next year. Any suggestions?

Thanks JohnL, you are probably right. I will give it a little more thought and try again. Otherwise I think the best path back is straight from the Turks. With a .9 knot current and the wind on the quarter it should be an easy ride.

Tim, Your best bet is head north from DR to Turks and Caicos, to the Bahamas, then jump off from Cat Cay to Key Biscayne, then south down Hawks Channel. Otherwise you are heading dead into wind, seas and currents. You might try hugging the north coast of Cuba and trying to find the counter current until south of Key West but you run the risk of the USCG seizing your boat if you enter into Cuban Waters. That is if you are American Flagged.
