Found this site after I did some thinking and decided to try out the cruising life. Never sailed before, been on the ocean a few times (navy whaleboats ferrying us jarheads to and fro). Came up with a plan. Move to the coast (in Arkansas currently) learn all I can about different boats, take some sailing classes and of course simplify my lifestyle. Sell the house, cars and stuff and save up for a couple of years. Have my eye on a motorsailer type of boat. The gulfports look nice and comfy. gulfstar43motorsailersloop | gulfstar 43 motorsailer center cockpit for sale

Anyhow, nice to meet you all and look forward to future discussions. See ya on the water soon.

Thank you all for the welcome. I am very excited and a little trepidatious. Taking it slow though. First get to the coast and get out a as many boats as possible, meet folks and probably take a few diesel mechanic courses. I travel extensively for my job so I only need to be somewhat near and airport. Going to be some interesting years to come.

Welcome aboard!

Don't be afraid to take a sailing course on a local lake. You will learn from some of the best and they might even have some good advice for you.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here. Yes, those old Navy motor whaleboats were some fun times.
Thanks for your service and good luck in fulfilling your dreams.
I, too, recommend a basic sailing course. Diesel mech is a good idea and so would a basic electrical course.
kind regards,
