Greetings

Hi all!

I too have been a lurker for some time and finally joined today. And to Zee's delight - another Leaky Teaky.

A sailor stuck in the desert right now, I've got a Santana 21 that I restored and sail around the local lakes to keep my feet wet. Have chartered boats for years down in the V.I.'s, large Irwins and the like, and big fat cats.

While I've still got a lot to learn, I am preparing to eventually live aboard, at least part time, and while I would like to be back home in El Caribe, right now I'm anchored in Arizona. I'm in the process of looking for a new (to me) boat. Since I've always been drawn to the Formosa's, Hudsons, Hardins, et.al. that's the direction I'm headed boatwise. Spent Saturday in Marina Del Reyo with a........broker, then Sunday/ Monday plying the docks in Long Beach.

While I had been looking throughout the U.S., it seems to me that since I'm only about 4 1/2 hours from the coast, finding something L.A. down to San Diego would work best, then I'd be close enough to spend lots of time working/learning/living on the boat.

An aircraft mechanic and pilot by trade, mechanical/electrical/plumbing issues don't scare me, I have the ability and tools to do much of my own work. I'm self employed and my schedule allows me chunks of time that would let me spend lots of it on the boat.

Seems though, that most of the boats I've been looking at are way, way overpriced. Is it me? I looked at a Hudson 50 this weekend that is an absolute wreck, having not left the slip (according to the neighbors) in 20 years, and I'm estimating it will take at least what they're asking for it, plus the same amount just to get it sailable. (If I had the cash in hand right now, Angelique would be mine....wanna trade for a couple classic airplanes?)

The nice part is I have the time to keep looking. Like I always tell my crews, "nothing good happens fast on a boat".....

Fair Winds to all,

Hey Ron, welcome to the forum.
Sounds like your moving in the right direction to find and save another leaky teaky classic.
Looking forward to following the project (once you have one)
