Totally agree, dana. Mines a good one, didn't break the bank, and if I decide to sell, which I hope I'll never have to do, I've already got interest lined up in her. But I don't want to sell.
I want to live on her for years and years and have a blast!
Yay!

the problem comes when you go looking for one and every other bugger has had the same idea so you get a bot with everything that needs replacing and its still a tilt slab project

Some folks attract bad luck, I guess.

From what I've read about ferros, the trick is finding a good one. Those that were built well have had a number of happy owners. But, there have been many that were not built well and have become disasters, sometimes literally, and not just in the pocketbook.

Uh, yes, Drifter. This is the stuff ferro lore is made of. Do hope mine is a good one. Will just nip and check.
Ooh, good, she's fine. Definately a good one.
Phew!

Ex owner, former builder

And another ex owner, former builder here.
Don't mind the wooden boat owners. Imagine people who trust in boats made of sugar and held together by resin.

Sigh. Folks don't get the piss taken out of them if they say, 'I'm about to go off cruising on a steel boat'. I just get so bored having to inevitably trawl through all the naff comments that follow whenever the word 'ferro' is mentioned.
Still, such negativity won't stop me actually going out there and doing it.
