Smile Coming to San Francisco

hello
this time it sound all organised
Found a nice couple to looking after my home and my doggy Zen.
so i am intending to fly in San Francisco around the 10 of july , for 3 weeks and look at boats..( i post last year a topic already that i am looking at buying a bigger boat..ect)
i do not know anyone in SF, and i will be happy to stay in a marina on a boat better than an hotel , i am happy to pay for a cabin in a boat ( does not have to be luxious ! ) i find life in marina more interesting than hotel.
And if Anyone has some spare time to take me sailing around it would be fantastic too, happy to pay too.
if we become mate ( friends )
You will be welcome anytime in My home in Australia( Noosa ) ( my boat now is in my back yard !)or in Nice ( France , french riviera) where my twin sister have great romantic attic in the old town of Nice for freinds and visitors. Nice is where where i come from, and we have a little boat too in Cannes , near Nice.
I often have people staying in my home or boat, that I met via some exchange web site..or travel web site, sailing web site ...as i used to be a photo journalist
i do not smoke, and rarely drink( only champagne ..LOL)
i am a very responsible person , and a loyal friend, very Clean ( i leave car or place or boat , better than when i found then ..)

i am not a big party person , and very quiet, up early to explored the marinas ..and boats..
i have skype if you want to chat and facebook .
sincerely
catherine

It would be nice to be in Nice. Follow us, and if we are home to S.F. in July drop us a line. Most likely we will be home in Aug, but one never knows what comes up in life.......i2f

G'Day Cathy,
Obviously a sensible lady having picked Gods Country as your new homeland. Hope you find the SF berth and enjoy the trip.

Hi Cathy, yes you can rent RV's in the bay area. There are many great places to camp near the bay and the ocean. Be very careful around Richmond! I can't provide a place to stay but would love to take you out for a day sail while your here. You can contact me through me profile. I would love to show you around this wonderful area.

great

thank Gary
i reply on your private email
what sort of weather should i expect?
i am well travelled , and like the invaluable knowledge of local people, it make such a difference.
Yes indeed i like the idea of a small RV , or van like i have here in Australia , and i go camping all the time in National Park or camping out of the city for few days,
When people come to Australia i always make them discover great places out of the "tourist trail".

Cathy:

Richmond Marina is a nice place but the city of Richmond is dangerous. Avoid staying there. You can stay in Berkly, Marin County, or other places. SF Bay is much rougher than Sydney and while people do Kayak there it is a very serious sort of kayaking. As far as renting a motor I don't know. There are a few places where you can rent sailboats but not sure of power boats. Cass Marina in Sausalito used to be a good place to rent a sailboat. I don't know if it is still there. There is a very nice youth hostel close to the maritime museum. San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Hostel - San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Hostel - Features As you probably know SF is very expensive. You can expect to spend $100 or more per night for a nice place to stay. Also look at this magazine Latitude 38 - The West's Leading Sailing and Marine Magazine. If you want to send me questions I would be glad to answer any by pm. I grew up in SF but haven't lived there for many years.

thank You Charlie
for all your tips
i know the hotel cost around $ 100
it fine by me .
i am not so much of a youth hotel person , never been in one ..
i am very quiet and do not drink or I do not stay up late at night ..but up early in the morning ..
i would have much prefered to stay on a boat,or echange ,or with a Host , like i do some time, or i have people staying in my home .
i am a experienced kayak person , but i do realise it could be windy in SF.
Thank you for the concern .
i grew up very independant and i had to cope and provide ( food , shelter , education ) for myself since i was 14 ..
and as a photo journalist i travelled always alone in dangerous countries , including Africa , and even in the gold mines of the hight Land of New Guinea ..
i am very street wise ..

personnaly , the people who hurt me more( emotially , financelly , physicaly ) in my life where the ones i gave my trust and inconditional love , not the ones living in the street or the total stranger in the streets..

Cathy:

I grew up in the Sunset. It is misnamed. It is a rare day in the summer when you see the sun. Bring lots of layers of clothes because the Sunset can be 10 degree C while over in Livermore it can be 30 degrees C. Good luck with finding a boat and such.
