I'm 61 and I noticed. Admiral knows that when I stop looking she can expect to bury me. Dad always said, "Don't go fishing unless you know how to present the right bait"

We found the original glossy brochure for our boat in the boat documents. The photo shows that marketing pros haven't learned much since 1984. I thought for years that the hotties in adds were included with the car, boat, motorcycle. The small glitzy stinkboats in our marina all seem to have one. The larger, obscene boats often have two or three. If I'm below, Lynn will alert me to the 'single or twin screw' passing by.

Only one d in ad, it is not short for addvert. Not nitpicking you particularly it is something that is becoming common nowadays, so sorry.

Here is another one available at Torresens in Muskegon. I believe its a Gougon Brothers boat. Crying shame to see it abused like this. This was one fast boast in its day.

I beg to differ, Nicholson, they've obviously learned more judicious applications for silicone since then.

On a lighter note, here's one of the 18 equally good ad pics that convinced me to buy the Neeltje a year ago. Did I mention that I bought her sight unseen?

That's because when I asked the sellers for a few more detailed shots, they sent me a CD with over 450 of them. These included the entire restoration process, as well as a 5-second time-lapse of them raising and lowering her folding mast.

That's the difference between a pro and an amateur, and why you usually get what you paid for more often with the latter...

What a lovely boat. It was a good photo and then they had the CD! That must have been a labor of love.

Did you sail her to St Augustine from Europe?

I suspect that the owners of the marina/shipyard that sold her to me initially bought her to flip her, and somehow all contracted shipwright's disease at the same time. In any case, they apparently had the means to restore her, and they did a splendid job of it.

In previous years, I'd seen over 50 of the sailing Tjalks available on the French and Dutch markets, and this one was the second best of the bunch, with "the best of the bunch" being a $600k new-build.

So yes, in the end, I guess you could call it a labor of love, as well as a substantial write-off.

Sid is the BLUE. Maya is the red. Lynn is in the windlass locker. Definitely not a dog.

I have a similar picture of my wife, but she'd kill me if I posted it.

Some years ago she gave me a pin-up calender for Christmas. She had it done by a lingerie photographer. My office was the social hub the first of every month. Pretty good sport.
