Zee, I met a lady recently at our marina in Clear Lake (near Kemah). She mentioned you, and she also has a Formosa. I think I need a tour of her boat in the future. You Formosa Girls are kinda nuts... but fun!

Are you sure that was the engine room on a Formosa 51?, or that the engine was Fairchild with 1200 ponies, I assume that was to mean 1200hp.. The rest of the interior may have been a Formosa.?
I read somwhere they used 3 different boats for the filming.

Having worked on movies of this scale, I can tell you that most likely there was a set built in some warehouse in the production area that look just like the boat interior. The big difference being that walls could be removed at will to allow cameras, and lighting equipment to be positioned the way the Cinematographer, Director and Gaffer liked it. You would be surprised at how accuratley these sets can resemble the real thing. There is just not enough room in any but the largest boats for extensive film-making. I once helped build a replica of the space shuttle (crashed) for a movie and it looked pretty good.
