This is a private forum, that people join (conditionally upon agreeing to the rules) of their own free will.

The community creates threads and determines the direction in which the threads move. Only when members breach our rules do we step in and politely ask them not to. And only if they are complete wankers and refuse to start being consistently nice to their fellow members (that's the only rule written in red) do we ever take action.

Hey Knotty and Gord. Glad to see you two still here as well.
If the mods let me post anywhere besides this thread I will try to toss in something useful now and then.

Re: anyone know where the user "Kai Nui" went to?

Most forums get this "democracy" issue every now and then, and as the lady says, the forums are run and owned by someone. They set the rules because they want to in some cases and because they have to in others. Some forum owners have let things get out of hand and have ended up being sued by people or businesses that feel they have been slandered, and can understand how the owner/s of any forum want to avoid that. The same if they choose to make it a G-rated forum where they feel that their children/relatives/friends can visit at any time and not be faced with profanity and bad manners. There are many forums out there which have been taken over and ruled by the keyboard heroes and bullies, it's cool to be part of one that is not.
Congrats to both the posters and the admins/ mods for this.

After that little piece of drivel, welcome back to you anyway, hope you are enjoying whatever you are doing.

Coops.

This place is like Hotel California; "you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave."

Welcome back!
