my previous Visiona 40 catamaran (12x6.95x1.25m) I let dry out at Sancti Petri / Spain, a River estuary with some Marinas some Miles SE of Cadiz. Very good protection but many boats on swing moorings during the summer holidays. Any how enought space to dry out as the dry out parts are seldom used.

On the coast between A Coruña and Setubal the winds are often between N and W. So seek protection on N sides of the rias and estuaries. Summer is often balmy but other times of the year it can get real rough there.

Further down on the Algarve, winds may vary, become light, at times will sync with whatever is going on in el Estrecho (the Gibraltar). You will want a nook where you are protected from more than one side. Summers are often balmy and winters bring periods of heavy rain driven onshore by fronts and lows that pass by.

Avoid anchoring close to fishing harbours in Spain and Portugal - them heavy fishing boats make no exceptions for anchored boats - you do not want to get tossed out of your bunk, especially at 05:00 local time. ;-)

If you have your mind set on going, nothing can stop you. No worries.
