Liveaboard Documentary about boats anchored Sausalito

Here's a link to a doco about the anchor outs (liveaboards) fighting the bureaucracy with a rule of a maximum anchor duration of 72 hours.

I found this very interesting. It's a fight played out in many plaices. Unfortunately for the live-a-board, their choice of an anchor spot often coincides with pristine harbours and sea front properties of very expensive real estate. And of course the wealthy home owners want to enjoy their view, unimpeded by a bunch of old, ugly and mostly decrepit boats and their poor owners.

I guess I do not get why they are able to destroy peoples boats? Aren't they all registered? I could see if it was setting there for 3 months without anyone (and even then I do not see how they could destroy it) but 72 hrs? That is ridiculous.

Ever wonder why you cant get insurance, or why it cost so much?

These folks are the reason.

I pity the harbor master.

How often these boats sink or drag and damage some one else's boat, I dare say you would barely get a sorry out of them.....but put a scratch on their boat.....they'll be screaming you damaged my boat...it's worth $100,000

This "doco"....or documentary (I would be hard pressed to call it that) is a one sided view about the 2% that F#!K it up for the rest of us.

Decisions made in life have consequences.

I didn't watch the video and assume it is the same old story.

It alway seems the anchor out battle is in the US. Do other countries have this issue?

I dare say few other countries would be so tolerant, nip that behavior in the bud early.

That's what regulations are for.

I could just imagine the water nazi's....oh, I mean australian police, pulling up to a wreck anchored in vaucluse and saying "no worries mate". I think not

More likely here's a couple of thousand dollars in fines!
