Thank you Gunner. I bought her in San Diego about 3 years ago. I spent the winter in Mexico on her then cruised up to the Puget Sound. I think the big Irwins are great boats......and I do love my bow thruster and swim platform. Please post pics of your boats gang.

Ok, Couple of questions for those with Irwins out there. 1st, found tonight by accident that the elec engine stop button doesnt work without the breaker for the Alternator turned on. Threw me for a loop til I got instructions on manual shutdown solenoid. Anyone run into this? Yes, I had the breaker turned off on purpose while connected at dock to keep from accidently frying Alternator by someone starting motor with power still connected to dock. ( or an I wrong here?). Second question is that DC panal is warm to touch most of the time. Have a truecharge 40+ battery charger and shows most of the time 20 amps charge with usage of 10-12 amps showing on panal. Is this common? Boat is set with 4 8D batteries that are older, but still showing charge and volts. Yes, these are simple questions, but PO really didnt know boats, was certainly just a farmer....

On another note, does anyone know about redoing the insdie of a fridge like on the Irwin 52 (upright with wood outside, freezer on the bottom) to bring it up to date an use regular fridge shelves and bins?

Hi all, reading a lot about irwin 52 and ihave one in the carib which look good to me esp. because new rigging 10 yeras ago with new chainplates etc. I hear a lot of good things but everybody mentioned it is not a good ocean crossing boat. Why ??? because the big saloon only ? If i comapere it with a beneatau 50 who will be the better one ? Ok a Amel Super Maramu or Maramu might be better but how much ......

Is here anybody who did at least a Atlantic crossing and can give some advice. Ocean crossing means to me going with the trades and not in Winter via cape hoorn.

Hi " CFR " , I have a Irwin 52 1985 kecht , I buy in 1993 , we cross the Atlantic Ocean two time go and return to the Caribean , we go the Mediterranean to Turkey , we sail the west cost of Africa , and now we are in the Rio de la Plata ( South America ) , to get ready for going to the Beagle Channel next summer .
I don´t change my boat we any other in his size , sail very good and is confortable , and the people is surprice how fast it is . Is not a race boat but is very simple to sail , he need wind to go ,more than 10 knods , and don´t go to the wind , but have a good engine and with the engine go perfet .
