Cleaning Recommendations

Hi all,

I’m currently living onboard a Bavaria 46. I bought her 2nd hand and she needs some ondeck cleaning TLC. She’s white GRP with teak cockpit.

I am looking to try get her decks back to new-ish. I have had some success with rush remover, boat wash and a degreaser.

However there are some stubborn marks (yellowish, orangish and black marks) on the non-slip deck that I’m desperate to try remove.

Any recommendations?

Re: Cleaning Recommendations

Oxalis acid, 1 cup powder in 1 gal hot water. Spray it on with old winded bottle or garden sprayer, plastic.

Takes off rust, ICW mustache, and mold.

Let it sit 5 minutes and wash with a hose.

Sold diluted for $$$$ or for pennies as wood bleach at Ace or good paint shop.

Re: Cleaning Recommendations

Hi there, thanks a lot, so this works with GRP non-slip decks?

Re: Cleaning Recommendations

Yep. Oxalic acid also removes the brown sprinkler spray from your house.

Re: Cleaning Recommendations

I mix oxalic acid and mild soap in hot water and apply with a soft brush. The brushing gets the dirt out of the pores. Rinse well after.

Re: Cleaning Recommendations

After cleaning with oxalic acid, I would use Woody Wax on the non-skid to help keep it clean.
