Thanks for the affirmation that it was indeed a sound purchase! The boat is moored in the Multnomah Channel, although I am currently in SE Alaska finishing out my work contract before moving back down South. I'm here for another month, but I have friends to go and check on her to make sure she's okay. Just last week my friend went and reported no funky smells, a dry bilge, and the heater/dehumidifier still running.

The main selling point for me was the full galley; I cook almost all of my meals from scratch so hotplate life is not for me. The propane system seems to work fine, with the exception of a slightly leaky valve on the tank itself which is a cheap and easy fix.

The on demand water heater is electric, and may or may not work (haven't had enough time to fiddle with it), although without an onboard shower there is no reason to have one. I just use an electric tea kettle for coffee, tea, and dish washing. If I decide to use a water heater, I will most likely replace the electric with a propane unit.

Every other system on board is in good working condition, even the refrigerator/freezer which the previous owner thought was broken. The only two issues that affect the liveability are the broken tiller handle, which I am going to have a fully aluminum replacement machined, and a slight leak in one of the windows above the v-berth (simple re-caulking job). She definitely needs a good scrub, but luckily a 27'er can be hauled out on a trailer easily and a friend of the family just so happens to have a sailboat trailer I can use.

The cushion covers are some kind of faux-suede that seems stain resistant, but I doubt can be machine washed, so I plan on having new covers made out of a material I can just throw in the wash. They are actually fairly comfortable for sleeping, but I'm going to pick up a roll of memory foam to cut an extra layer for the v-berth.

The only thing left after all that will be to change the name...not a huge fan of Le Mer Dame (The Sea Lady). I'm thinking Mercyful Fate would be a more fitting name for this particular vessel.

However "Le Mer Dame" is terrible French.
Corrected should have been "La Dame de la Mer" Lady of the Sea.

So change it ...LOL

That's probably due to what you are use to.
Which comes first the subject or the object. Probably terrible French.

The Sea Lady probably fits the stern better.
