Wouldn't you almost be required to use some kind of foam / latex exclusively on a boat? I'd think cotton would absorb too much moisture from the air & eventually cause molding? Poly-fill might do the trick, but I've never seen that actually hold shape for very long. Too couldn't you just get a Purple mattress or something similar & cut it to fit the size you want?

That's exactly what most of us do. It's what I did when I was in the upholstery business.
