Alternatives to BBC World Service

With the BBC now being revealed as partial, and cowed by a far-right government, what stations can I listen to around the world which are neutral (or centre left).

I am talking about traditional radio (SW, LW, MW, FM) rather than Internet.

For some balance, there is Aljazeera. They have a radio stream, though I only look at their web news. Not perfect either, but gives some contrast.

Depends where you are, Radio New Zealand is good in the Sopac.
Apart from that it is mainly religious zealots and the chinese.
Radio Australia was shut down by a Murdoch mole some years ago.

This is a good site

Re: Alternatives to BBC World Service

I think you can listen to NPR (national public radio) and PBS (public broadcasting system) through their websites. I know there are also articles to read on NPR. Both seem to be old fashioned facts based reporting. They seem to add balance. They are not for profit so aren't pandering to advertisers. There's little to no sensationalism in the reporting. They rely on donations. But also government grants so there's that. They don't seem to do much investigative journalism but they report on those that do.

Not sure the status on News of America. During the last administration it was revamped. Not sure if any of that has been reversed with the new administration.

Invesigative journalism would be The Daily Beast, Al Jazeera, Mother Jones, Slate, NYT, WaPo, WSJ, Miami Times. That I know of. They all blew open the Panama papers and other important stories.

For general synoptic news feeds AP, Reuters, Axios. If you want to delve deeper, take the head line and do a Google search to see other coverage.

Oh I also read the The Independent and various Caribbean news because they cover and report on things that are not reported in regular American news. Things on scientific discoveries, reports on what's happening in south America and the Caribbean politics and policies that are never reported in the US media that could affect our lives.
