Speaking of dorm fridges, I was at Sams Club today and saw one marketed by Igloo. It is mostly fridge with a small freezer, maybe 10"x10"x5". The whole unit is 18" wide, 20" deep, 32" high and weighs 50lbs. Capacity is given as 3.2 cf. It claims to draw 8 tenths of an amp at 115 volts, so figure 92 watts. If you assume it draws twice that much at startup, then a 200 watt inverter should handle it. Price is $99.
Great info and you can't beat the price. Thank you

Re: Yippee!

I have a Dometic portable and use it all the time. It's on the boat in the summer as an extra (came in very handy when the big fridge's brain died -- took a day or two to troubleshoot and another couple of days for the new part to come in) and right now it's back in my house, in freezer mode, with about 20 lbs of vacuumpacked yellowfin tuna steaks from my partner's latest catch. It doesn't draw much and I've been very happy with it.
