Those 1000's of commercial vessels have either representatives or full blown offices in every country they service.
A private vessel is a completely different ball game..

Thanks everyone for their replies, very informative. We are buying in Portugal and sailing our boat to Greece where we will keep here for a few years and maybe in later years sail to the Caribbean and beyond !!
I have settled with a 60:4 ownership split with my partner, I don't plan to split from him but if we do I'm protected. Its probably worth having both our names on the papers.
Very glad all the political messages were deleted, that was a bit of a shock!!
