We bought Tara in 2009 and over two year we accomplished a full refit. The boat was brought to a bare hull and rebuilt from the ground up. She originally had a good amount of Rot in her so we thought to go deep. Including the total rebuild of her interior, we dropped the keel and inspected her keel bolts and then resealed and set the keel again. She originally had non opening port (the Plexi kind) so we filled the original holes with a blend of ¼'' Hydra Teak and 11oz woving glass and then continued to beek up with layers of hydra teak to make the dog house a solid 1'' thick. We then bought new found metals opening ports and installed 4 on each side. The original anchor lockers was very small and shallow. We cut out the old and enlarged it to accommodate adequate ground tackle. Moving towards the front stem we had a stainless stem piece which holds dual anchor rollers and a electric windless. Much more work has been put into her, Ill put into bullet points to speed up the process. What I tell people when they ask what is new or rebuilt, I say if you can touch it, it is new or rebuilt.

For two people, with dive gear, bikes and photo equipment, its a bit cramped for living on the hook. We are looking to slightly upsize because we plan on living on the hook in remote areas. Just need a but more space. She is very stout boat, she stiffens up around 15 degrees and piles drives! Cruises around 5-6 knots, so she is pretty fast for only 28 feet. Most people when they come on board think she is well over 30 feet because of how beamy she is. We usually tell them that she is the largest 28 footer you'll ever get on. She does not pound in chop and is a very comfortable ride if your sailing her right. Bering a fin keel with spade rudder she turns on a dime and is easy to park even if you have had a couple. I feel this boat is perfect for a family that wants to explore the channel islands, or a couple that want to head anywhere! The way she is rigged currently with all line leading aft she would be a great single hander resort boat! Tara turns heads everywhere she goes and is just a lovely boat to own, hate to sell her!

$35,000

Cheers,

Jon

Re: Caliber 28 "Tara" $35,000

We do have a Triple Axel West Trailer also available, with boat for and extra $5000. New brakes, bearings, tires and electrical. So this boat can be easily relocated. it does require permits to move, but they are easy to obtain, most professional drives have them. The trailer is highly adjustable, can handle a 28-36ft boat, max of 18,000 pounds.

Cheers,

Jon

Re: Caliber 28 "Tara" $35,000

Big Price drop, $27,000 bottom dollar private party only. Not Via broker. Firm on price. This boat Has absolutely ZERO things to do work wise. Nearly everything is new and working flawlessly. If you want to go sailing or cruising today, no better boat for a couple for the price. Please call me if interested, we will be moving the boat to Santa Barbra on the first of the month to the brokers dock. If you want the best possible deal on this fine vessel, please arrange before then.
