4th of July in Alaska? Petersburg or Juneau?

Howdy everyone!


I am currently just south of the Wrangell Narrows, trying to make up my mind which direction I am going to go for the 4th of July, I have a choice of either Petersburg or Juneau?

If I do Juneau I would have to stay at Douglass basin as my mast is taller than the bridge going into town. (without futzing with shooting the tide to get under)

If I do Petersburg I have no such limitations but I am also unfamiliar with what festivities are to be had in either place other than I hear Juneau has on heck of a fireworks show they light off from a barge.

Trying to make up my mind which one to go to.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Saw this too late. We are also in Alaska. Where did you end up spending 4th of July? We ended being in a remote anchorage on the eastern side of Admiralty Island but I saw amazing photos taken by friends in Sitka.

Wound up spending it in Juneau, still here, wound up making a friend and spending some time out at their island, did the 4th in town watching the fireworks from Harris.



Gonna have to make Sitka another year.
