Harbor Walk Marina

Any local knowledge regarding entrance depth? Active captain has reports during 2013 that indicate if your draft more than 5' you'll plow thru or not get into the marina.

A friend of mine wants to head that way and drafts 6'2".

Hadn't heard that. Harborwalk is not one of the places that usually comes up when discussing depth issues. TMCA did their spring fling there a year or two ago and I don't think there were any issues? You friend could time it for high tide just to be safe. If they don't make it in, Offats bayou is a short trip back the other way and is a great anchorage. There's a couple of marinas in there as well. That might make for a good plan B.

Hmmm, I wonder. Could a call to the marina answer that question? Just sayin. Chuck

Re: Harbor Walk Marina

I told him that and to call the marina. Thankfully I think he picked a marina in the clear lake area.

Btw, marinas will most likely tell you there isn't a problem .. Until you try it. Local knowledge and active captain is always better.

Re: Harbor Walk Marina

In 23 years of cruising we have never been given inaccurate depth information from a marina if we talked to the right person. We have on the other hand been told by many fellow cruisers that information on AC has been inaccurate. No source is 100%. Speak with the owner or Dockmaster. They have no need to tell someone they can get into their marina and have the boater get stuck. It makes no sense. Perhaps if that happened to you, it was a dockhand without the proper knowledge. We have been told on more than one occasion that we couldn't get into a marina or there was not enough depth at the slips. Chuck
