This is way off the thread topic, but there are those from Normandie, and those from Bretagne (Brittany).....and a whole lot of miscegnation way back in the old days before those guys came over from Saxony, eh?

A long time ago, I needed to have my police records from France sent to a country I wanted a visa for. I went to see a friend of ours, who is bilingual in French and English, and familiar with French culture. I was astonished at the letter he wrote in French for me: it was full of flowery, formal, respectful phrases which are part of normal business writing in France, and unknown to me from the business English I had learned. A letter I wrote would have been insulting, because it was lacking what should be there. So, understanding ponyo's predicament from my own experience, I found double u's post hysterically funny!

Not so, ponyo's predicament.
