Canadian Boat wanting to Stay in Maryland

We are Canadian documented sailboat and currently have a cruising license but want to keep the boat in Maryland.

Should I register title in MD and pay the tax and yearly decal? Will this allow me to take the boat to Florida without problems?

Is there any advantages of title in Deleware or lower tax state, but still keeping it in Maryland?

We have had a hard time getting proper direction from CBP

We ended up registering the boat in Maryland and got excellent service at the Centerville office.
