What Oil For Interior Teak

I have no good suggestions for you but I can tell you that linseed oil will darken with age. Not sure why I thru that out there but I did

I use REAL tung oil.

Look at ingredients carefully, often "tung oil finishes" contain little (if any) actual tung oil. I use Real Milk Paint Tung Oil and the citrus solvent to cut it 50/50. It smells nice, penetrates well, and it is different than many oils in that it actually dries hard (though NOT like a varnish-it penetrates the wood, it doesn't sit on top of the wood) and is a non-toxic, waterproof finish.

I use it on my kitchen countertops in the house, and I liked the way it finished and looked (cherry plank countertops). I was tired of refinishing my hatch etc. every year (stripping and re-coating), so last year I decided to use it for exterior application, and it has far surpassed anything I have used before. One caveat regarding the external use-I sail in freshwater (for now).
In a salt environment, YMMV. Interior use, however, I strongly recommend it.

+1 on Daly's Sea Fin. Really easy to use, and looks fantastic. Just be sure to start with a clean surface. We cleaned everything with a mix of water, and a small amount of murphy's wood soap and vinegar, followed by a water only wipe down. Ran the dehumidifier for a few days and then started the process. Looks great and gets lots of compliments.

Where do you get citrus solvent? Lee Valley no longer carry it but they have pure tung oil so I bought that.
The admiral really hates most solvent smells so it will really help keep the peace if I can find a citrus replacement.

I get the pure tung oil and the citrus solvent from the Real Milk Paint Company. You can even get it premixed half and half, if you want, though I like to use tung oil undiluted after the first coat. Here's a link to RMP Company oil & solvent:

teak is not a blonde wood it darkens with age.
oil soaks into wood, not sits on top like varnish.
oil does not grow mold, wood will when no ventilation. i have had excellent good luck with watco on exterior wood, my interior was varnished before i got boat-- varnished over cetol which is a disaster., if i had my druthers i would oil it with orange oil alternating with a good teak oil.
clean the wood first well (i use sea water, for best results) then hand rub oil into the oil starved wood.
as for brand or type of oil, that matters not. oil is oil. i have noticed that orange oil lasts longer than lemon oil and repels more insects.
oil will turn wood black if there is any dirt on or in the wood.
ps--oiled wood is not shiny

Danish oil works well, it is essentially oil and varnish mixed together.

+2 on the tung oil from Real Milk paint. We used it on our new cabin sole (cut w/mineral spirits) and it's great. The cabinets and walls we use polyurethane for a long lasting finish.

We looked at a lot of off the shelf "tung oil" formulations before we finished our interior and they had very little if any tung oil in them.

Similarly, looking at the MSDS for the Weiman's "lemon oil" it is 98.4% white mineral oil with some lemon scent. So if you don't care about the smell, you can get it even cheaper by just getting plain mineral oil. Mineral oil should have no solvent smell. If you want it to smell good then add some citrus oil, (orange, lemon, etc.) (~0.5-1 milliliter (mL) to 100 mL mineral oil).

For a DIY wood lemon oil, try a finely grate the outside of 1 lemon (the yellow part; like zest) and let it soak in white mineral oil. This should impart a very light lemon scent.

Tung Oil with Cedar Oil and Tea Tree Oil. About 2/3 is Tung Oil. No mold grows on this and the Cedar Oil produces a more pleasing smell. I use this inside and out. Darkens a bit, but only when I don't clean up the grey color that comes with age. That's Ok with me. Looks great inside. Was going to experiment with UV protection, but never got around to it.
