Pin hole leak in bilge

When my bilge pump cycled once per hour while sitting on the mooring in fair weather, I went looking for the source. Found a pinhole in the bilge directly over the fin keel of our 1984 Pearson 34.
I scraped away any film and paint in the area and applied 3M 5200, held down with a scrap of plastic and 10# diving weights.

Question: Should I be worried about structural weakness, or is this just the loss integrity of the Hull to Keel seal.

Re: Pin hole leak in bilge

It appears no one wants to be the bearer of bad news. If you don’t feel qualified to effect a permanent repair the prudent thing to do would be to have the boat hauled and begin the process of root cause analysis. You may have discovered the tip if the iceberg. Good luck.

I agree, this should be something requiring investigation, not a patch.

Re: Pin hole leak in bilge

A hole cannot be properly patched while in water.

So you want to get this boat to a travelift, lift it, and inspect thoroughly.

Many boats leak. It can be either extremely dangerous or not at all. Hard to say without proper inspection on dry.
