New adler Barbour unit

Hi.
My very old cold machine stopped working a year ago. So I finally decided to hire someone to replace it. He got adler Barbour coldmachine from defender and hooked it with exiting coils.
Turned it on and it has been running for the last 12 hours. He claims it could take up to 24 hours to build frost and start shutting off completely. Is that true? Could it be the thermostat?
I placed a water bottle 10 hours ago near the cold plate. It is cold now but not frozen. And I do feel a bit of frost in the coils.

I suppose different sized fridge/freezers will perform differently. Maybe this link will help?
