Mooring ball chafe solution

I believe I've found a solution to the problem of the mooring ball chafing thru the boot stripe paint.

I picked up a vial of epoxy colorant and mixed according to directions; a little goes a long way. I then taped off both sides of the boot stripe and scuff sanded the area.

I laid on a coat of slightly thickened and colored epoxy and when it was just tacky but not sticky laid on a 2d coat.

When that was just tacky I removed the tape with the help of a razor knife to cut thru when the tape started to tear.

Two months into the season and no sign of chafe-thru.
