I have re screwed, re plugged and caulked a Passport 47 and have removed the teak decks from a Hans Christian 38 and applied treadmaster. Both were very big backbreaking jobs to the point of completion. I would propbably go the route of removing the teak decks and rebuiling the teak hatches if faced with the task again, but would probably use a roll on non skid, like a pickup bed coating type on the decks in lieu of Treadmaster.

Small world. Email me. I'll be back around the boatshow time if plans don't change. Have to go to the mainland in May so may postpone trip, though.

Aloha

Hi Cabo,

Thanks for the link, the videos were very helpful as I was still a bit confused as to how this tool works. Looks like I have a new toy on my want list.

I guess the other thought is, how much water is trapped under the teak deck on the fibregalss at this time. and with 100's of screws going through the deck........

I have the multimaster and think its a great tool. It is pricy though.
Do not get the cordless model.
I don't have teak decks, so haven't used it for that, although I think it would do a good job of it. Depends on what your time is worth as far as the cost. For me I used it to help sand my sole and bulkheads for varnishing, cut wood and metal, grind, polish, and to other jobs. The attachment for dust collection is poorly done. and same as some of the sanding attachments. I have had to replace the velcro pads several times.
Nice heft to the tool.
I wish festool made one, cause I have no issues with any of their tools.

My 2 cents is, if you have a need for the tool, get it (and who would't ?) and if not go thru it the old fashioned way and hard work.

I agree with the comment about the Fein dust collector being a lightweight, however, it DOES mate with my Festool vacuum system, and makes for a great combination, especially working inside (as I'm doing this rainy season). Just connect the power cord in the usual outlet on the Festool, and use the Festool hose and rubber cuff to connect to the Fein, push the switch (another somewhat poor design) and go to work. I REALLY love the "fingernail" carbide tip for doing quick work on rough spots of epoxy, glass and wood. You can virtually carve with it, especially good for inside fillet corners and spots just beyond the reach of your hands.

I have had my Fein tool for about two years and I do not know how I did without it for so long.

Re: fein tool

I have both a Fein multimaster and a cordless milwaukee version. The milwaukee is good but the Fein is superior. They are very versatile tools.
