Ditto with Trinidad Pro and 3-4 weeks between hull cleanings.
I switched from a scouring pad to a Remora Solo (not shown in the picture), which is so much easier and faster at clearing slime from large areas. It doesn't remove barnacles. The bristle brush is there because I sometimes need it at the waterline.

I'm glad to hear you're having the same experience with Trinidad Pro. Everyone's anecdotal reports are all over the place with how long they go between cleanings.

I agree - I probably could and will next time. Since this was my first time doing this, I wanted some distance from the curious onlookers who would inevitably assume I've run aground. Also was nervous about actually running aground with an ebbing tide.

I just wanted to clarify that I'm using the softest brush that goes with the Remora, to remove slime. They offer a variety of brushes, including hybrid ones that include plastic blades to scrape off barnacles. I haven't tried that hybrid brush where I am now, because the water visibility is so low and I don't want to smack the blades into any of the hull fittings.

Unless you just are taking off slime, I find a scrub brush or scouring pad removes too much paint. For real barnacles I use this:

Re: Extensive barnacles on bottom paint that's 10 months old

I bumped into this old thread, and thought I'd bring it back up, because of the statements in regards capsaicin/chili powder.

Capsaicin is a very species-specific molecule. For example, birds don't have any sensitivity to its effects. This is likely because of seed-dispersal reasons. I would be very surprised if arthropods had the receptors.

Looks fantastic. I have been doing it by hand using agressive scouring pad type material so it would be nice to find something that works faster.

BTW and comments on Trinidad Pro vs HD for Bahamas - Cuba - ABc's?

Yes. That is me using the Remora in the video and in fact, I helped develop it.

I can't illustrate any differences in performance between those two paints or speak to what works in the Gulf or Caribbean but any flavor of Trinidad is as good as hard paints get, IMHO.

Anyone have experience with this special “boat hull scraper”? Seems nicely made but way expensive! When I’ve used scrapers with square edges I’ve accidentally chipped away at my Coppercoat! In case the photo doesn’t render: https://amzn.to/3QVzuaK

It's a $65 putty knife. I'm sure it works fine.
