Caulking

Installing a socket for Tiller Pilot electrical. It came with a rubber gasket.

Is that enough waterproofing, or should I also put goop under the rubber and maybe in between the rubber as well?
Or maybe just into the screw holes?
Or install it, and then run a seal around the entire rubber outside?

Don’t know your installation

I like rubber gaskets

Mount the gasket dry

A bit of caulk on fasteners

Don’t get caulk on the rubber

Lubricity will cause the gasket to distort

Re: Calking

I like to put a bit of caulking on every surface. If its the Raymarine plug then there is not a lot of rubber gasket area. The caulking will not stick to the rubber but I just hate doing any job twice.
I am sure just caulking on the screws would work but if it leaked I would be so pissed with myself.
Cheers
