Bottom paint for texas coast on a proa

My search button doesnt work in my phone.

I am just about done with my proa build.
Planning on sailing it in the gulf. However , i am much closer to freshwater for tests and making sure it actually floats.

I thought i read on here that you cant use salt paint in freshwater????.

Im looking for "good" low cost paint.

. any help is appreciated

Interlux Bottomkote will protect the boat from water intrusion in both environments and is relatively inexpensive. It will not protect from barnacles, however. You'll have to clean the bottom occasionally or better yet, run the boat back into fresh water and they'll let go.

I think if you sanded like you would before applying any additional paint you will be fine. The directions on the side of the can of paint you choose will tell you definitively.
