Another game of "What is it."

Alright CF, we had a survey completed this week on a beautiful hopefully ours soon boat. Both surveyors had no idea what this is. Everyone on dock had no idea.

It is solid plastic and 9" in diameter. It looks like something locks into it like a side boarding ladder. The problem with this theory is that it is about 6' ft aft from the boarding gate opening. We hope someone can shed a light in this problem and let us know if it is useful or needs to come off on the next haul out..

Thanks as always everyone.

I'm only guessing here but I feel that a picture might be useful. Whoops, sorry mate, see that you are having problems now.

You did it. Now have a drink and wait for the replies.

What comes out of the outlet above it?

Well since it right below a hole that is probably a sink drain from the galley. Perhaps it is a place to hang a bucket or some type of hose arrangement that allows you to drain grey water off to a sewage system and not into the marina water?

otherwise - damned if I know

Re: Another game of "What is it."

It's just a deck scupper outlet. Nothing of huge importance.

Maybe your right and it's a water catch, but drinking deck water.... I'll pass.

Re: Another game of "What is it."

Maybe something to break up the flow out of the thru-hull so that it isn't as loud, for example an air conditioning discharge? What is the thru-hull for? I think the boarding ladder bracket idea is very possible.

Whatever it is, if you are like me you are sure to figure it out appoximately 0.05 seconds after you get completely done removing it, sealing holds, touching up, throwing out the part, etc.

Maybe you wouldn't want to drink deck water but on a cruise you could sure do laundry in it! If it's a deck scupper I'd say it might be something for that for the purpose of dish or laundry fresh water.

Re: Another game of "What is it."

Yeah, you gota find the other part to be sure, but it looks like a attachment for a hose=bucket combination to save the water coming off the deck. Thats my vote.
