Airex Cored Ingrid?

When I was first looking at our Ingrid (Bluewater Yachts) prior to
purchasing it, the owner mentioned that it had an Airex cored hull. I
had never heard of the factory turning out any Airex cored hulls so I
just assumed that he was mistaken and it was a solid glass hull.
Now that I have it and I am looking at it more closely, I find an area
that has had a minor bulkhead removed and the area that had been
repaired after the removal does look like it is a type of foam core.
I have not yet looked into it deeply enough to know if it is truly
cored, if it was a foam rib to prevent the bulkhead from creating a
stress point, or if it is merely foam insulation in the hull. I doubt
the later possibility because it is covered by heavy roving and I
can't imagine anyone covering insulation with heavy (perhaps 24oz) roving.
I can believe the possibility of a foam rib, but it appears to extend
at least four inches to each side of the bulkhead so far as I have
investigated. I know, I should have looked into it further before buying the boat. It would have made no difference, I would have made the deal anyway - it is one of the deals that works out good for all parties involved.
This leads up to my question:
Has anyone heard of a factory cored Airex Ingrid 38 hull?
Now, if it truly is an Airex cored hull, is there any benefit of this?
I have also posted this question on the Ingrid Owners group.
I am curious now.
Thanks,

Tim

You might ask CelestialSailor. He did a lot of research on the Ingrids before he bought his.
Kind regards,
